- In his September 1 1988 letter to Fred Horne, Stephen A White states:
In the early 1800s all the Bouchers in Cape Breton lived in what is now Richmond County, mainly on Isle Madame. A census of 1811 provides the names of the heads of all the Boucher families, with the numbers of male and female children in each of their households. I have studied these families for over twenty-two years, and I can assure you that all of these Bouchers descended from Honoré Boucher and Marie-Anne Marres dit La Sonde.
The 1752 Census of Île Royale in Port Toulouse records Honore Boucher age 36 native of la Cadie 30 years in the colony, wife Marie Anne La Sonde age 24 native of Port Toulouse, and children Bellony age 8, Jean age 2, and Marie Joseph age 4; their house is on the property [l'habitation] of their mother.
In addition to Bellony (a.k.a. Benonit), Jean, and Marie Josèphe (who married Boniface Benoit), Honoré Boucher dit Villedieu and Marie-Anne Marres dit La Sonde had the following children: Anne-Marie (who married Charles Landry), Louis (who married Perpetue Landry), Pierre, Apollonie (who married Joseph Fougère and then Paul Forgeron), and Angélique (who married Paul Girouard).
Louis is recorded in the 1811 Census of River Bourgeois and the 1813 Militia Roll for River Bourgeois.
Most of the remaining children of Honoré Boucher dit Villedieu and Marie-Anne Marres dit La Sonde settled in Arichat including Bellony/Benonit, Jean, Anne-Marie, Pierre, and Angélique.
The 1811 Census of Arichat records Benonit; Peter, Joseph, and Simon, sons of John; Charles Landry's widow (i.e. Anne-Marie); Pierre Senior, and Paul Giroir Senior (husband of Angélique). The 1813 Militia Roll for Arichat records Belony (age 67); Peter, Joseph, and Simon, presumed sons of John; Charles Landre (age 50) presumed son of Anne-Marie, Peter (age 60), and Paul Giroir (age 60).
Apollonie initially settled at Havre Boucher with her first husband Joseph Fougère. Following Joseph's death, Appoline returned to Isle Madame, married Paul Forgeron, and settled in Little Arichat.
