- Ancestry’s Dorset, England, Church of England Baptisms, Marriages and Burials, 1538-1812 records only two Pike families with a wife named Susanna baptizing children between 1675 and 1710 in Saint James, Poole; namely Thomas and Susanna, and William and Susanna.
Thomas and Susanna are Thomas Pike and Susanna Bird who are not the parents of William Pike, husband of Hannah King. Thomas Pike and Susanna Bird have a different son William.
It is reasonable to conclude William Pike, husband of Hannah King, is the son of William and Susanna who baptize two sons William (in 1687 and 1694). Presumably the first William died before the baptism of the second William.
It is also reasonable to believe the marriage of Mr William Pike and Miss Susanah Spicer on May 5 1686 at Hampreston is for the parents of William Pike, husband of Hannah King. Hampreston is 6 miles northeast of Poole Saint James.
Ancestry’s Dorset, England, Church of England Baptisms, Marriages and Burials, 1538-1812 records the following William Pike burials at Saint James, Poole between 1700 and 1770. As William Pike and Susannah Spicer married in 1686, it is reasonable to believe William Pike died before 1770.
1. William Pike Senior buried March 9 1701 (Image 990 of 1508)
2. William Pike buried February 10 1736 (Image 1045 of 1508)
3. William Pike an Infant buried January 22 1749 (Image 1127 of 1508)
See Notes for William Pike, father of William Pike who is the husband of Susannah Spicer, for the supposition William Pike Senior buried March 9 1701 is the father of William Pike, husband of Susannah Spicer.
The only other candidate in Poole to be the burial of William Pike, husband of Susannah Spicer, is William Pike buried February 10 1736.
Ancestry’s Dorset, England, Wills and Probates, 1565-1858 records the Will of William Pike of Poole Mariner dated June 9 1741 and proved January 4 1757. This Will bequeaths to his mother Susannah Pike; his wife Hannah Pike; his son William Pike; and his daughters Jenny Pike, Hannah Pike, Susannah Pike, Sarah Pike, and Mary Pike. It is reasonable to conclude this is the Will of William Pike, husband of Hannah King.
This Will names William Pike’s mother Susannah Spicer, but not William Pike’s father William Pike. This may indicate William Pike’s father William Pike has died. William Pike, husband of Hannah King, resides in Poole at the time of his 1741 Will.
It is reasonable to believe William Pike buried February 10 1736 is William Pike, husband of Susannah Spicer.
